Slow Food is a global, grassroots organization linking the pleasure of good food with a commitment to local communities and the environment. This movement seeks to address our pace of life, which is speeding up as we run around without giving time to pleasures, big or small. It is essential to slow down, and what could be better than to start at the table? And be able to enjoy food and rediscover the richness of local cuisine. It is the complete opposite of fast-food, and that is why the symbol of the movement is a snail, giving importance to take some time, be slow and sustainable.
“Slow Food Km 0” is the Catalan project, which aims to bring value to Catalan cuisine, based on the authenticity of the product, its local origin and according to the season. The products must be km 0, within a radius of up to 100 km. Every year, Slow Food awards the restaurants that fulfill the requirements with a Snail of Approval.
